Attached is a letter from Mr. Joseph Simpkins. Mr. Simpkins will begin in the position as the superintendent of River Grove School District 85.5 in July.
I am retiring after 35 years as an administrator and teacher. Most of that time was spent either at River Grove School or at Rhodes. My connection to River Grove is deep and will remain strong, no matter where I retire. I have never known more people than in this community. I have the greatest respect for everyone who has been at school to show their love and concern for their children, their education even when that meant working through issues.
The board went through a careful process to find a superintendent who can show vision for the district. Joe Simpkins seems like a wonderful successor. He has taken time from his current position to attend board meetings, to meet with me about business and to learn the job before his starting date on July 1st.
I will remain on the job while Mr. Simpkins starts to build a transition that will make the change smooth.
My many thanks to the families of River Grove for honoring me as your school superintendent and principal. I wish you all the best.
