From the Superintendent
July 02, 2012
Saying ‘Good bye” to a teacher with 12 years of service to the community of River Grove is hard to do. After years of loyal service and, after seeing many of her students graduate from high school and college, Mrs. Glon is retiring. She has made a difference in the lives of many children from this community. Her smile and her stories about the Sox and her family will be sadly missed. Best of all luck to Mrs. Nancy Glon!
Completing the year with the Sixth Grade will be our new teacher from Iowa, Ms. Katie Medvec. Ms. Medvec who has worked with intermediate and middle school grade students and is coming to us from the University of Iowa. Her background in Mathematics should be of wonderful value to River Grove students.
As students prepare for the Winter Break, the custodial crew is getting ready to repair and thoroughly clean the school.
The school has made its request for funding for the fiscal 2013 year asking tax payers for an increase in taxes. Cook County government is required to “cap” tax increases to under 5% or the Consumer Price Index whichever is lower. The school has operated under this cap for the past 17 years and will continue to do so next year as well. The CPI for the current year is 3%. The budget is posted on this web site and any financial information is public record. Requests to review information can be made by contacting my office at 708 453-6172.
The New Year holds many opportunities and challenges. It is my hope that we all rise to the occasion and that each of us can contribute to creating a strong community. With success as the goal, the prize has to be great.
Best Wishes for a prosperous New Year.
Sincerely,
Glenn Grieshaber
Superintendent
