PBIS at River Grove School

  • ROYALS ARE SAFE, RESPONSIBLE and RESPECTFUL!

At River Grove School we like to acknowledge students for making a good choice and doing great things. We utilize a universal system of positive behavior supports to reinforce doing the right thing. We celebrate individual and community success in many ways. Your child may be ‘student of the month’ or come home and tell you about a Royal Reward he or she received from a teacher or program aide. From time to time, you will be invited to participate in a fundraising event in support of PBIS. Funds are needed to support our PBIS store, where kids can shop for snacks and small toys. We have school-wide raffles and celebrations where students put their tickets in to win a prize. All events are designed to create opportunities for students to use their Royal Rewards for things they want. This creates value for our school currency and further develops the positive intervention system.

Students who need a little more help with appropriate school behavior and/or good academic habits are supported in a variety of ways. Our staff is trained in classroom interventions, and our specialists provide leveled support to individual students. At River Grove School we are dedicated to continuously strengthening our community bonds and developing positive relationships

  • WHAT is CHAMPS?

CHAMPS is a proactive approach to classroom management. The acronym stands for Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation and Success. The teacher must address these different elements before starting any activities to ensure smoother lessons and effective learning.
